On Saturday, January 10th we hosted ‘Advanced Concepts’ for Muay Thai. After a brief discussion on issues related to teaching and advanced training, we got to work on advanced training. For this one we focused on different ways to optimize striking in the art. First we concentrated on staying relaxed to make punches and kicks more powerful. Part of that is breathing properly and dialing into rhythm and timing in combinations. We also practiced using a ’fake knee’ to set up combinations.
At the conclusion of the training the participants did some sparring rounds, followed by a couple of promotions! These included Katie Lefkowitz earning her 3-Stripe White Prajiet, and Chalice Mitchell earning her 1-Stripe Blue Prajiet. Congratulations to Katie and Chalice and thanks to everyone who attended.
